Sinekatalog’s take

Luchino Visconti's drama has Anna Magnani as a Roman mother pushing her daughter toward film stardom. Magnani is magnificent, and the film's mix of satire and tenderness makes a sharp comment on dreams and cinema.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
