Sinekatalog’s take
Volker Schlöndorff's black-and-white drama follows a Baltic noblewoman and a German officer amid post-WWI chaos. Margarethe von Trotta is fierce in a cool, spare and tragic story of unrequited love and war's moral ruin.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
