Elia Suleiman, who also plays the lead, directs with a deadpan, almost silent style. The 2002 film won the Jury Prize at Cannes.

Sinekatalog’s take

Elia Suleiman's deadpan comedy strings absurd vignettes of life under occupation around a love story that happens at a checkpoint. Silent, sly and visually inventive, it is a funny, bitter and poetic debut.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
