Plot
On the last night of an old Taipei cinema before it closes, a handful of spectators and staff watch the classic martial-arts film Dragon Inn. A limping ticket-taker moves through the empty corridors, while the audience, including a Japanese tourist, sits in the dark. Tsai Ming-liang's 2003 film has almost no dialogue and is a melancholy tribute to the movie-going experience.
Sinekatalog’s take
Tsai Ming-liang's near-wordless film watches the final night of a Taipei cinema as a few ghosts and strangers watch a martial-arts classic. Slow, melancholy and quietly funny, it is an elegiac love letter to film-going.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
