Sinekatalog’s take
Emilio Fernández's adaptation of Steinbeck follows a poor Mexican pearl diver whose great find brings greed and violence. Pedro Armendáriz is strong, and Gabriel Figueroa's photography makes it a visually gorgeous, tragic parable.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
