Sinekatalog’s take
Max Ophüls's lavish CinemaScope biography stages a courtesan's scandals as circus spectacle. Dazzling, melancholy and ahead of its time, with Martine Carol and Peter Ustinov, it was a flop that is now widely acclaimed.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
