Sinekatalog’s take

Delbert Mann's tender drama of a lonely butcher is small, honest and deeply touching. Ernest Borgnine won an Oscar for his gentle performance, and the film won Best Picture with ordinary-life warmth.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
