Plot

Joe Buck, a naive Texan dishwasher, comes to New York hoping to make a living as a male prostitute for rich women. Failing at it, he befriends a sickly and crafty small-time con man, Ratso Rizzo, and they share a derelict apartment during a harsh winter. John Schlesinger's 1969 film, with Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman, is a portrait of loneliness and friendship, and the only X-rated film to win the Best Picture Oscar.

Sinekatalog’s take

A naive Texan hustler and a sickly con man become friends in grimy New York. John Schlesinger's film, with Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman, is gritty, tender and still the only X-rated Best Picture winner.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
