Plot

A woman and her stepson in Boulogne, and the memory of Algeria.

Sinekatalog’s take

Alain Resnais's fractured drama follows a widow, her stepson and the shadow of the Algerian war in Boulogne. Elliptical, rhythmic and haunting, with Delphine Seyrig superb, it is a bold, difficult study of memory and avoidance.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
