Plot
Jean-Louis, a devout Catholic engineer, sees a blonde woman at Mass and decides to marry her. By chance he meets an old friend, who takes him to the apartment of Maud, a witty, divorced doctor. They talk through the night about Pascal, chance and fidelity, and a snowstorm keeps him there. Eric Rohmer's 1969 film, the third of his "Six Moral Tales", is made almost entirely of conversation, and is a landmark of intelligent, literary cinema.
Sinekatalog’s take
Eric Rohmer's conversational classic keeps a Catholic engineer talking all night with a witty divorcée. Black-and-white and intimate, it makes talk about faith, chance and desire utterly absorbing.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
