Sinekatalog’s take
Jia Zhangke's epic follows a state theatre troupe in Fenyang through the 1980s as China shifts from Maoism to the market. Long, patient and tender, with Zhao Tao, it is a landmark of Chinese cinema and national memory.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
