Plot

Kena and Ziki, two young women in Nairobi, whose fathers are political rivals, fall in love in a society that condemns it. They face hostility from their families and their community. Wanuri Kahiu's 2018 film, banned in Kenya for its subject, became the first Kenyan film shown at Cannes, and was later given a short release in cinemas after a court ruling.

Sinekatalog’s take

Wanuri Kahiu's Nairobi romance follows two young women in love despite political rivalry between their fathers and widespread hostility. Joyful and colourful, it was banned in Kenya, and is a sweet, brave and heartfelt film.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
