Plot

When a corrupt chief in a Nigerian town installs a new king without following the sacred rites, the royal bells, called Saworoide, which carry the fate of the community, sound a warning. The new king's rule brings arrogance and injustice, and the people must restore the old order. Tunde Kelani's 1999 film is a political allegory in Yoruba culture, and a landmark of Nigerian cinema.
