Plot

A Georgian legend in which a fortress that keeps collapsing is said to need a living young man walled up in its foundation.

Sinekatalog’s take

Sergei Parajanov's Georgian fable concerns a fortress that keeps collapsing until a young man is walled up in it. Painterly and ritualistic, with static tableaux, it is a haunting, ornate work of myth and sacrifice.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
