Plot

Giovanni, a psychoanalyst in a seaside town in Italy, lives a comfortable life with his wife and two teenage children. When his son is killed in a diving accident, the family is devastated, and Giovanni is unable to listen to his patients' problems. Nanni Moretti's 2001 film, a restrained study of grief, won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

Sinekatalog’s take

Nanni Moretti's quiet drama of a family devastated by their son's death is restrained and deeply human. Moretti is moving, and the Palme d'Or winner avoids melodrama to capture grief's slow ache.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
