Plot
Five young friends driving across Texas to visit a family grave stop at an old farmhouse and are attacked by a family of cannibals, among them the masked Leatherface, who wields a chainsaw. The survivor, Sally, is pursued through the night. Tobe Hooper's 1974 low-budget horror, more disturbing for its atmosphere than its gore, was banned in several countries and is a landmark of the genre.
Sinekatalog’s take
Tobe Hooper's low-budget nightmare is raw, sweaty and relentlessly disturbing. More about atmosphere and dread than gore, it still feels shockingly immediate and influenced decades of horror.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
