Plot
A small-time pickpocket in a provincial town is left behind by friends who have become respectable businessmen.
Sinekatalog’s take
Jia Zhangke's raw debut follows a provincial pickpocket abandoned by friends who have prospered in China's new economy. Shot in a documentary style with non-professionals, it is a sad, sharp portrait of a left-behind man.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
