Mozambique

Mozambican cinema began with the independence struggle and the creation of the National Film Institute after 1975, which made newsreels and documentaries as nation-building tools. Ruy Guerra, born in Mozambique and a leader of Brazil's Cinema Novo, links Lusophone African and Latin American film traditions.
