Plot
Margo Channing, a celebrated and ageing Broadway star, takes into her life a devoted young fan, Eve Harrington, who appears to be modest and kind. Little by little, Eve takes over Margo's friends and career, and eventually her role, while hiding a ruthless ambition. Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 1950 film, with Bette Davis and Anne Baxter, is famous for its razor-sharp dialogue, including "Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night", and won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Sinekatalog’s take
A rising actress insinuates herself into a Broadway star's life. Mankiewicz's script is a barrage of wit, Bette Davis is magnificent, and the film remains a savvy look at ambition and flattery.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
