Plot

In a suburb of Dakar, Ada, a young woman, is engaged to a rich man, though she is in love with Souleiman, a construction worker. When Souleiman and his colleagues, who have not been paid, leave for Europe by boat, Ada's wedding night is disturbed by a mysterious fire and a series of strange events. Mati Diop's 2019 film, a mix of romance, ghost story and social drama, won the Grand Prix at Cannes.
