Directed by Orson Welles

Cast

Plot

After the death of the newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane, a reporter is sent to discover the meaning of his last word, "Rosebud". He interviews the people who knew him, and each tells a different part of his rise from a poor boy, his rise to power and wealth, and his decline into isolation in his enormous mansion, Xanadu. Orson Welles directed, co-wrote and starred in the 1941 film, and its deep-focus photography, shadowy lighting and layered storytelling changed the language of cinema. It is often named the greatest film ever made.

Sinekatalog’s take

Welles's debut traces a press baron's life through the search for the meaning of 'Rosebud'. Deep focus, a fractured structure and sharp ideas about memory made it a fixture of best-ever lists, and it is also quite entertaining.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
