Plot

The second film of Lütfi Ö. Akad's trilogy about the rural poor tells the story of a family who leaves its village for the city, where they hope for a better life. Instead they face poverty, exploitation and the loss of the traditions that held them together, with the wedding of the title as a bitter centre of the story. Akad's 1974 film is a major work of Turkish social realism.

Sinekatalog’s take

Lütfi Ömer Akad's second part of his rural-poor trilogy follows a family leaving its village for the city and facing poverty and lost tradition. Austere and humane, it is a landmark of Turkish social cinema.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
