Sinekatalog’s take
Elem Klimov's drama follows villagers of a Siberian island told to leave before a dam floods it, a film begun by Larisa Shepitko and completed after her death. Haunting, lyrical and elegiac, it is a profound requiem for a way of life.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
