Plot

When a giant great white shark begins to attack swimmers off the coast of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody wants to close the beaches, but the mayor, worried about summer tourism, refuses. Brody joins the oceanographer Hooper and the grizzled fisherman Quint on a boat to hunt the creature. Steven Spielberg's 1975 thriller, with John Williams's score, created the summer blockbuster and made generations afraid to swim.

Sinekatalog’s take

Spielberg's shark thriller invented the summer blockbuster. The shark rarely appears early on, and John Williams's two-note theme does the frightening. Part monster movie, part character study of three men on a boat.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
