Sinekatalog’s take
Zhang Yimou's passionate tragedy of a young wife, a cruel husband and a nephew is ravishing in colour. Gong Li is superb, and the film's dye-works imagery makes a visually stunning, censored-in-China melodrama.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
