Sinekatalog’s take
Jean Renoir's early talkie follows a meek cashier ruined by a prostitute and her pimp. Michel Simon is brilliant, and the film's bitter, ironic realism makes a sharp, tragic precursor to Scarlet Street.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
