Plot

Lulu, a free-spirited dancer played by Louise Brooks, charms everyone she meets without understanding the harm she causes. A series of men fall for her, one by one, and her marriage to a wealthy newspaper publisher ends in tragedy. She flees across Europe, ending in the poverty of London on Christmas Eve, where she meets a fatal stranger. G.W. Pabst's 1929 film, based on plays by Frank Wedekind, made Brooks an icon with her black bob and her natural, modern manner, and it is a high point of late silent cinema.

Sinekatalog’s take

G.W. Pabst's silent classic makes Louise Brooks an icon as the carefree Lulu. Her magnetic, modern presence carries a dark story of desire and downfall, with a poignant London finale.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
