Plot
The story of Petria, a village woman, and the men she marries and loses over decades of the twentieth century in Serbia. In a series of episodes, she endures war, loss and changing times, and keeps her dignity and spirit. Srđan Karanović's 1980 film, with a script by Gordan Mihić, is a warm and ironic portrait of rural life, and is still much loved in the former Yugoslavia.
