Sinekatalog’s take
Kaneto Shindo's last film, loosely based on his own wartime experience, follows a widow and a soldier bound by a postcard promise. Quiet, moving and sharp about war's absurdity, it is a fitting farewell from the veteran director.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
