Plot

In a neighbourhood of Yaoundé in Cameroon, a teenage girl, Samedi, goes to a witch to change her life. The witch, Mama Thérèse, takes on the form of a man, My Guy, so that they trade places and bodies, leading to comic confusion about sexual roles and expectations. Jean-Pierre Bekolo's 1992 film is a witty, anarchic satire of sexual politics and of African cinema's conventions.

Sinekatalog’s take

Jean-Pierre Bekolo's comedy follows a Cameroonian teenager who visits a witch, who swaps bodies with her as a man named My Guy. Playful, sharp and gender-bending, it is a lively, ironic parable of sexuality and power in Yaoundé.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
