Plot

Claude Lanzmann's roughly nine-and-a-half-hour documentary on the Holocaust uses no historical footage. Instead it is built on testimony from survivors, witnesses and perpetrators, along with contemporary footage of the sites, such as Treblinka, Auschwitz and Chełmno, and interviews with people such as Jan Karski and the historian Raul Hilberg. The 1985 film is regarded as one of the greatest documentaries ever made.

Sinekatalog’s take

Claude Lanzmann's nine-and-a-half-hour documentary on the Holocaust uses only testimony and present-day locations. Overwhelming and essential, it is a monument of memory and one of cinema's most important works.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
