Plot
A long, formal retelling of the famous tale of loyal samurai avenging their lord.
Sinekatalog’s take
Kenji Mizoguchi's wartime epic retells the loyal samurai revenge tale in a formal, solemn and slow style. Handsome and meticulously staged, with long takes, it is a rigorous, sometimes stiff but impressive historical drama.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
