Plot
A story of a labour camp in the Gobi desert.
Sinekatalog’s take
Wang Bing's drama dramatises a Gobi desert labour camp of the Anti-Rightist campaign, where prisoners starve in earth dugouts. Bleak, spare and shot in terrible conditions, it is a harrowing, truthful reconstruction of a hidden atrocity.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
