Plot

A three-part documentary essay on Argentina's history of colonialism and neo-colonialism. It combines archive footage, interviews, news clips and interviews with intertitles that question the viewer, and calls for liberation. Fernando Solanas and Octavio Getino's 1968 film, made clandestinely, was screened in secret in homes and factories, and is a defining work of Third Cinema, a militant political cinema of Latin America.

Sinekatalog’s take

Fernando Solanas and Octavio Getino's epic three-part essay-film indicts Argentina's colonial and neo-colonial past with archive, interviews and agitprop. Furious and inventive, it is a landmark of Third Cinema and militant documentary.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
