Plot

In 1950s Liverpool, a boy, Bud, lives in a close-knit working-class family, but finds his refuge at the cinema and in the music and songs of the time. The film is a series of moving, sensuous fragments of memory, with light, rain and songs. Terence Davies's 1992 film, a companion to Distant Voices, Still Lives, is a tender, lyrical autobiographical work.

Sinekatalog’s take

Terence Davies's memory-poem recalls his 1950s Liverpool childhood through music, cinema and light. Ravishing and nostalgic, with its famous slow tracking shots, it is a tender, formally brilliant autobiography.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
