Sinekatalog’s take

Jacques Becker's gangster drama follows an ageing crook who wants to retire. Jean Gabin is superb, and the film's slow, melancholy rhythm and everyday details revived his career and shaped French crime cinema.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
