Plot

A Greek-American filmmaker, "A", returns to his homeland after many years and travels through the Balkans, in the midst of the Yugoslav wars, in search of lost reels by the pioneering filmmakers the Manakis brothers. The journey becomes a meditation on history and cinema. Theo Angelopoulos's 1995 film, with Harvey Keitel, won the Grand Prix at Cannes.
