Sinekatalog’s take
Souleymane Cissé's drama follows a girl who becomes mute after a rape and is rejected by her family. Frank and compassionate, it was banned in Mali for its boldness and is an important, courageous early feminist film.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
