Women resist French recruiters.
Sinekatalog’s take
Ousmane Sembène's drama shows Diola villagers in 1940s Senegal resisting French demands for rice and recruits, led by the women. Austere and fierce, it is a powerful, anticolonial work of African cinema.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
