Plot
At a traditional English boarding school, the seniors, called "whips", rule the juniors with cruelty. Mick Travis and his two friends, a group of rebellious boys, play pranks, are punished and dream of revolution, which they finally carry out with real guns during the school's founders' day. Lindsay Anderson's 1968 film, with Malcolm McDowell, mixes black and white with colour and fantasy and won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
Sinekatalog’s take
Lindsay Anderson's anarchic boarding-school satire grows from stuffy routine to violent rebellion. Malcolm McDowell is star-making, and the film's mix of realism and fantasy shocked and thrilled a generation.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
