Sinekatalog’s take

Alexander Dovzhenko's sound debut follows a peasant who joins the building of the Dnieper dam, torn between old life and industrial socialism. Lyrical yet propagandist, it was attacked by the authorities at the time and holds fine imagery.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
