A shepherd returns from the war to find that a landowner has taken his flock and is pursuing his fiancée, and he takes revenge.
Sinekatalog’s take
Giuseppe De Santis sets a revenge story in the olive groves of Ciociaria, with Raf Vallone as a shepherd who returns from the war to find his flock stolen. Lucia Bosè and Folco Lulli add heat to a rugged, passionate neorealist melodrama.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
