Plot

In Berlin during the Cold War, Mark returns from a mission to find that his wife Anna wants a divorce. As he tries to find out whether she has a lover, he discovers something far stranger. Andrzej Żuławski's 1981 film, with Isabelle Adjani in a famous subway scene, mixes marital breakdown with horror and the supernatural, and is an intense, hysterical, much-debated cult film.

Sinekatalog’s take

Andrzej Żuławski's Berlin marriage-breakdown horror is a screaming, surreal assault. Isabelle Adjani's subway scene is legendary, and the film is intense, bewildering and unforgettable if you can take it.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
