Plot
Christian, a curator at a Stockholm museum of modern art, is preparing an exhibit called "The Square", an installation about trust and altruism. After his phone and wallet are stolen, his attempt to retrieve them leads to a series of mishaps, and a publicity video has unexpected consequences. Ruben Östlund's 2017 satire of the art world won the Palme d'Or.
Sinekatalog’s take
Ruben Östlund's art-world satire is a series of excruciating set pieces about privilege and hypocrisy. The ape-man dinner scene is unforgettable, though the film's two-and-a-half hours test patience.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
