Sinekatalog’s take

Andrei Konchalovsky's film of Chekhov's play keeps the stifled estate, the unrequited loves and the wasted lives. Innokenty Smoktunovsky leads a restrained, humane and beautifully acted version that feels authentically Russian.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
