Plot

Thirteen-year-old Kayla endures the tidal wave of contemporary suburban adolescence as she makes her way through the last week of middle school — the end of her thus far disastrous eighth grade year — before she begins high school.

Sinekatalog’s take

A close, uncomfortable and very funny portrait of a girl getting through the last week of middle school. Burnham films social media and self-doubt without scolding, and the lead's awkwardness feels recognisably human. One of the more honest films about adolescence in recent years.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
