Sinekatalog’s take

Alexander Dovzhenko's biopic honours the Soviet plant breeder Ivan Michurin. Shot in colour, with lyrical nature scenes but heavy with ideology and Stalinist pressure, it is a minor, strained work from a great director.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
