Sinekatalog’s take

Josef von Sternberg's baroque epic follows Marlene Dietrich's Catherine the Great in an overripe Russian court. Absurd, gorgeous and decadent, with extravagant sets, it is a dazzling, delirious feast of style.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
