Tunisia
Tunisia hosts the oldest film festival in Africa, the Carthage Film Festival, founded in 1966. Its cinema is known for frank treatment of women's lives, family and desire, in the work of Moufida Tlatli, Nouri Bouzid and Férid Boughedir, and more recently Kaouther Ben Hania. French and Arab influences, together with a lively film-club tradition, shape its style.
